What does BDSM mean?

The acronym BDSM stands for the following:
BD = Bondage / Discipline
DS = Dominance / Submission and
SM = Sadism / Masochism
and is in this aspect much broader than the more wide only used SM in Germany. A lot of people prefer to not use the word SM as it is mainly associated with the gain of pleasure through pain and suffering. This is of course not everyone's kink. Bondage's "rigger and bunnies", pet-player, or other kinks won't fit under the plain SM banner. Because of this, the much broader word definition of BDSM is mainly used and normally understood by everyone interested in these activities.

Frequently Asked Questions about BDSM

    Questions concerning BDSM Berlin

    And why do you need a club for something like that?

    We have summarized the various answers to this question under Why actually have a club?

    There are so many offers. Where do I begin?

    Attending our Beginners' Meeting is a great starting point. There, you'll meet other people in a small group who are just as new, nervous, and uncertain as you are. The experienced hosts will put you at ease and answer all your questions, allowing you to chat with others in a relaxed atmosphere. This will make your first time a positive experience and give you the confidence to take the next step.

    Questions concerning finding a partner

    I am looking for a partner. Could you guys help me find one?

    No. We are not a dating agency; a personal ad is more suitable for that. We are happy to help you with the wording.

    I am looking for a partner. Will I find him / her with you guys?

    It's a popular wish, but unfortunately highly unlikely, to find the person who will fulfill all your long-held fantasies on the very first date. Everyone is allowed to dream about it; no one should go to a Munch painting with that intention. Disappointment is guaranteed.

    Questions for parties & events

    Im new to all of this. Which one of the clubs and events are for beginnners?

    Nowhere will you be eaten or forced to do anything against your will. In smaller clubs, and/or if the organizers seem even remotely friendly, it's a better idea to explicitly say to someone in charge, "This is my first time here, and I don't know my way around," rather than putting on a nonchalant expression. With a bit of luck, you'll get some tips, a tour with explanations, or be introduced to other people. Some clubs also offer specific "introductory evenings" (see calendar).

    I am in Berlin from... till... Can you guys give me tips where I can find parties and events during this timeframe?

    Everything we know about this topic is already in the calendar. We don't know anything more.

    Can you give me tips about events or clubs in Paris / Moscow or Bielefeld?

    No. We are responsible for the Berlin area – we are not familiar with other areas.

    Miscellaneous

    Here is the new URL of my new SM- and / or fetish website. Can I exchange links with you?

    As attentive readers of these pages will notice, we don't have a links page at all. We are not interested in collaborating with commercial providers.

    I am looking for Bondage manuals / tipps as to what I can do with my partner / building manuals...

    There are many BDSM websites that offer such tips and instructions. A Google search will already reveal quite a bit. The websites Lustschmerz or Schlagzeilen can also be helpful. Please understand that, due to time constraints, we can only answer such inquiries individually in exceptional cases. If you have already searched the web without success and specific questions remain unanswered, we will gladly try to find an answer.

    We would like to rent a room in Berlin with SM equipment. Are there any available?

    Unfortunately, we can't provide a list. Feel free to contact us and we'll see if we can help you if you can't find what you're looking for using search engines.

    I really like what you are doing here, but I sadly do not live in Berlin. Is there something similar in my city?

    The most comprehensive and usually most up-to-date directory of BDSM contact points in German-speaking countries can be found at www.schlagzeilen.com.
